Lee and I were talking about a similar issue several months back. I had a friend who was ill, and a mutual friend asked me to pray for him, which of course I did. He did not immediately get better; he has a mean form of depression that took him away from his work; even with two PhD's he was unable to work, and eventually it turned into agoraphobia. It was frightening, and for four years my other friend and I simply lent an ear. I continued to pray, and came across a great book at the library; can't even remember the name, it talked about "bargaining prayers". And that is exactly what I had done for a lifetime. I never thought about it but the message was "God, I'll do this if you'll do this". And nothing changed. Then I remembered the right wording, "Thy will be done". I had to also be ok with the fact that His will might not always match my ego or wishes, but, more would be revealed later (and usually that was the case, sometimes years later). Thanks again for such a positive useful message. Love Rick (and Lee)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
